Finding Sacred Rest

When life gets too busy (and why that's okay)

Hi friends,

This newsletter brings you moments of spiritual clarity amidst life's chaos—Scripture to anchor you, encouragement to uplift you, and grace to carry you forward on your faith journey.

Each week, you'll get a bite-sized dose of inspiration—perfect for busy days when you need a lift.

Let’s dive into today’s edition!

Verse of the Week

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Matthew 11:28-29

First, a little honesty—I missed sending Grace Notes for the last two weeks as Easter and family time filled my calendar. Perhaps you've felt that familiar guilt when life's demands overtake your best intentions?

This week’s verse has been my comfort.

Jesus doesn't scold the weary; He invites them closer.

I watched my son fall asleep during Easter dinner, right at the table—completely surrendered to his need for rest without apology. There's wisdom there that many of us adults have forgotten.

Jesus doesn't just offer physical rest but soul rest—the deep restoration that comes when we stop carrying burdens we were never meant to shoulder alone.

A Quick Reflection

Rest isn't just a physical necessity—it's a spiritual discipline.

This struck me Thursday morning when I found myself rushing back into my routine without pause. I realized I was treating rest as an indulgence rather than the divine reset God designed it to be.

Even after the resurrection—the most world-changing event in history—Jesus took time to walk, talk, and eat with friends. He never rushed past meaningful moments.

Try it: Schedule a deliberate "soul rest" moment this week—even 15 minutes of stillness with no agenda except to breathe and be present with God.

Your Grace Note

Here's a practical tip: Create a "permission slip" for yourself to rest without guilt.

Write on a notecard: "I give myself permission to rest because Jesus values restoration, not just productivity."

Place it where you'll see it daily—your bathroom mirror, desk, or nightstand—as a reminder that rest is part of God's design.
