The Beauty of Small Blessings
The gifts hiding in plain sight
Hi friends,
Today’s newsletter is inspired by the book The One Year Devotions by the lovely Crystal Bowman, which I’ve read to my two youngest sons every single night as toddlers, and the one I wish they read to their kids one day.
Let's dive into today's edition!
Verse of the Week
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
I almost missed it yesterday—a small miracle disguised as an ordinary moment.
Standing in the grocery store checkout line, frustrated by the slow-moving customer ahead, I noticed the cashier patiently helping a senior gentleman count exact change. Her kindness transformed my irritation into gratitude for witnessing such gentle care.
Paul wasn't suggesting we thank God for pain or hardship, but rather that we find reasons for gratitude even within difficult circumstances. Sometimes the smallest blessings shine brightest against challenging backdrops.
That grocery store moment reminded me that God's goodness often arrives in bite-sized packages—we just need eyes to see them.
What small blessing have you almost overlooked this week?
A Quick Reflection
Gratitude isn't about convincing ourselves everything is perfect—it's about recognizing grace in the middle of imperfection.
God's care doesn't always arrive as dramatic interventions.
Often, it's found in the friend who texts at just the right moment, the parking spot that opens up, or the song that speaks to your heart.
Try it: Before bed tonight, name three small things that brought you joy today. Notice how acknowledging them changes your perspective on the entire day.
Your Grace Note
Here's a practical tip: Start a "Little Blessings" note in your phone.
When you notice small moments of joy, kindness, or provision, quickly jot them down with the date. Review your list when life feels heavy—you'll be amazed at how God's goodness adds up.
Even mundane blessings like hot coffee, a comfortable bed, or a text from a friend become evidence of His constant care.
Let’s Connect
I'd love to hear about a recent small blessing you experienced—reply to this email and share your story with me.
In His Love,
Grace
P.S. If you know someone who could use a reminder to notice God's small gifts, forward this their way—sometimes the best blessing we can give is helping others see what's already there!
